The Staffbase Legal team is a small but mighty (and growing!) team, that works across all departments at Staffbase to guide and grow the business as part of our rapid and international expansion. At Staffbase Legal, our core values are plain language, business acumen, and finding workable and pragmatic solutions to legal problems. We also practice Kaizen, or continuous improvement, and are constantly looking at how we can improve our processes, templates, and policies to improve the experience for our customers and our “Staffpranos” here at Staffbase.
We are looking for additional help in our legal team, that, depending on your qualifications, could be either a Legal Assistant (or Paralegal) or Junior Counsel role. If you believe you may be a fit, please pitch yourself to us and we’ll have a chat!
This role is open to part time and flex time working.
As part of this role, you’ll be reporting directly into the VP Legal & Compliance, also based in Amsterdam, as a part of Team Operations at Staffbase. This role is primarily focussed on operational and legal help for Staffbase, including helping design legal processes, reviewing for compliance with our policies and procedures, contract management, and training our Staffpranos on best practices.
You’ll also get a chance to work with NDAs, commercial agreements, and a bit of “everything else” that comes up within the business as an in house lawyer. This role is unique in that you’ll get exposure to every level and area of the business, including product legal work (such as open source), privacy, data protection, compliance, IT security, employment law, Intellectual Property, IT law, and corporate work. You’ll be responsible for helping to develop and manage legal processes across the business as we scale for growth, and to apply those processes to areas such as HR, purchasing, product, and data protection. This role requires creative thinking and will collaborate directly with our executives, sales, customer experience, HR, and engineering teams.

Your tasks include:
Working on legal documents in English.
Negotiating legal terms with vendors (in English).
Building out documentation and self help material for our Staffpranos to understand what we do in legal and how we can help.
Develop legal processes in line with commercial practice in the SaaS industry as well as legal compliance rules and guidelines.
Enjoy working in a flexible environment where the key metric is “getting things done”.

Fluent in English at a high level.
Legal training, either in practice, through a degree, or as a qualified lawyer.
Affinity for technology, including using and exploring different technologies.
Analytical, creative, problem solving and entrepreneurial personality.
High communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
Highly motivated, driven and self-starting individual who loves to work in a diverse and international team.
Great to haves:
In house legal experience is a plus.
Familiar working with web tools like GSuite, Confluence, and Trello
German language skills.
SaaS or software industry experience.
